A writer, director, and producer, LaQuin has worked on projects for BET, A&E (IDA award winning docu-series), Netflix, and Showtime on various award winning and nominated productions (NAACP, Emmy). She recently produced a 3-part docu-series, Welcome to Rap City for BET Networks.

As a Caribbean American, LaQuin’s culture and life experiences dictate the lens through which she views the world. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY she was fortunate enough to be immersed in culture and diversity, giving her new and unique perspectives to use in her work. Navigating through life stuck between two identities (Caribbean and American) has taught her a lot, not only about herself, but about people. LaQuin never felt like she fully belonged in either community so she developed her identity around the principle of human first, layering other aspects of her identity on top of that.

LaQuin grew up surrounded by many different cultures and people from various backgrounds. These experiences led her to her passion of telling stories that bypass race, color, gender, or creed. She brings this to her work and gravitates towards stories that have the ability to connect with individuals on a deep and authentic level. She was always a curious and avid learner, constantly seeking information about the history and cultures of those around her. This has followed her into adulthood, and is a technique she uses in her work. She likes stories that teach us something about the human experience, or about a part of life that we may not otherwise be exposed to. Stories that educate, empower, and inform. Stories that give us peaks into moments so many people may take for granted. Moments that mean more than what they appear.

A graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University with a M.A. in Television, Radio, Film; a graduate of Brooklyn College with a Major in Television and Radio Production; and a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications, LaQuin is a woman of many interests, seeking to combine all of them into one. Her love for storytelling whether through writing, directing, performance, or artistic work is what keeps her motivated. Quin has worked in the film and tv industry in various capacities over the last two years and is eager to share her stories with the world. She is the proud founder of Shaded Media Group, a full service creative production company, focused on telling stories that all humans can relate to–regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or creed–while highlighting Black voices in the film and television industry.
